Moon, Venus and Planet Earth

Explanation: In this engaging scene from planet Earth, the Moon shines through cloudy skies following sunset on the evening of September 8. Despite the fading light, the camera's long exposure still recorded a colorful, detailed view of a shoreline and western horizon looking toward the island San Gabriel from Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Lights from Buenos Aires, Argentina are along the horizon on the left, across the broad Rio de la Plata estuary. The long exposure strongly overexposed the Moon and sky around it, though. So the photographer quickly snapped a shorter one to merge with the first image in the area around the bright lunar disk. As the the second image was made with a telephoto setting, the digital merger captures both Earth and sky, exaggerating the young Moon's slender crescent shape in relation to the two nearby bright stars. The more distant is bluish Spica, alpha star of the constellation Virgo. 행성 지구에서 촬영한 것이지만 보는 이의 시선을 빨아들일 듯한 이 장면은, 지난 9월 8일 일몰 후 하늘의 모습입니다. 달이 자신의 요염함을 구름들 틈새를 비집고 드러내 보입니다. 길게 노출하여 얻은 이 사진에는 해안선과 서쪽 지평선의 세세한 모습이 희미하지만 그대로 잡혀 있습니다. 그러니까 Uruguay, Colonia del Sacramento에서 San Gabriel 섬 쪽을 바라본 정경입니다. Argentina, Buenos Aires의 도시 야광을 사진의 왼쪽 지평선에서 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 그 앞에는 Rio de la Plata 하구가 펼쳐 있습니다. 오랫동안 셔터를 열어놓았기 때문에 밝은 달과 그 주위 하늘의 이미지는 과도 노출된 것일 수밖에 없었습니다. 그래서 사진작가는 달과 근처 밝은 하늘을 단기 노출의 스냅으로 더 찍어서, 먼저 찍은 것에 붙이기로 했습니다. 두 번째 노출은 망원사진이었기에 디지털 방식으로 두 이미지를 합성함으로써 지구와 하늘 양쪽을 다 멋지게 표현할 수 있었습니다. 결과적으로 초승달의 날렵함이 가까이 있는 두 개의 밝은 별과 대비돼서 강조된 편입니다. 좀 더 멀리 있는 푸르스름한 색상의 스피카가 처녀자리에서 가장 밝은 알파별입니다. 달에 가장 가까이 보이는 것이 지구의 저녁별인 행성 금성입니다. 달에 가렸다가 다시 나타난 모습이 이 사진에 그대로 잡혀 있습니다.
