세상 끝에서 본 개기 일식

개기일식을 보기위해서 세상의 끝까지 가보겠습니까? 만약 당신이 시도했다면, 그 곳에 또 다른 누군가가 있어서 놀라지는 않았을까요? 2003년에 독특한 개기일식이 일어났을 때, 태양, 달, 남극, 그리고 2명의 사진작가가 모두 일직선으로 서있었습니다. 지구 극단의 위치임에도 불구하고, 광적인 일식 사냥꾼들은 태양이 달 뒤로 사라져버리는 초현실적인 순간을 경험하기 위해 세상의 밑바닥까지 위험을 무릅쓰고 여행했습니다. 그날 얻은 보물 중 하나가 바로 이 사진입니다. 이 사진은 4개의 다른 사진을 디지털로 합성하면서, 실제로 일식이 사람 눈에 어떻게 보이는지를 재구성하여 표현한 것입니다. 사진을 얻었을 때, 달과 태양은 남극의 지평선 가장자리 위로 떠올랐습니다. 갑자기 어둠이 왔을 때, 태양의 웅장한 코로나가 달 주위에서 보이기 시작하였습니다. 우연히 다른 사진작가가 비디오카메라를 확인하는 도중 함께 포착 하였습니다. 그의 왼쪽에는 장비 가방과 접이식 의자가 있습니다. 3주 후면 이것보다 훨씬 쉽게 관측 가능한 개기일식이 일어날 것입니다. 바로 미국에서 볼 수 있기 때문입니다.

A Total Eclipse at the End of the World

Explanation: Would you go to the end of the world to see a total eclipse of the Sun? If you did, would you be surprised to find someone else there already? In 2003, the Sun, the Moon, Antarctica, and two photographers all lined up in Antarctica during an unusual total solar eclipse. Even given the extreme location, a group of enthusiastic eclipse chasers ventured near the bottom of the world to experience the surreal momentary disappearance of the Sun behind the Moon. One of the treasures collected was the featured picture -- a composite of four separate images digitally combined to realistically simulate how the adaptive human eye saw the eclipse. As the image was taken, both the Moon and the Sun peeked together over an Antarctic ridge. In thesudden darkness, the magnificent corona of the Sun became visible around the Moon. Quite by accident, another photographer was caught in one of the images checking his video camera. Visible to his left are an equipment bag and a collapsible chair. A more easily visible solar eclipse will occur in about three weeks and be visible from the USA.
